visiting is easy
The Museum is located in the heart of Welllington's vibrant waterfront - just 2 minutes from Lambton Quay and 8 minutes from Te Papa.
We are open every day from 10 am to 5pm (except Christmas Day)
General entry is FREE.
Booking is essential for all education or tour groups (charges apply).
Located within easy walking distance of the Museum are Parliament, Old Saint Pauls, Cable Car Museum, Capital E and City Gallery. Public buses stop nearby and there is direct access to Colonial Cottage Museum, Cricket Museum, Katherine Mansfield House, Wellington Zoo and Karori Wildlife Sanctuary.

Parking
There are several parking options around Queens Wharf within walking distance of the Museum
- Underground parking is available under the TSB Bank Arena at the southern end of Queens Wharf and under Frank Kitts Park (which has a $3 per day weekend special).
- A disability park is available at the Museum's door.
- Coach and bus parks at the Museum?s southern end.
Wheelchair access
Wheelchair access is via the Museum?s main entrance, and lifts are available to reach upper floors. Wheelchairs are also available for use during your visit.
