Ship 'n Chips

A voyage through Wellington’s harbour and nature.

Explore the stunning natural environment of Matiu/Somes Island, discover the city’s history with a guided tour of the Museum of Wellington City & Sea, and enjoy a classic kiwi fish ’n chips lunch as you sail across Wellington harbour.

Tours run seven days a week departing at 11am and finishing at 3.45pm.

Bookings must be made by 10am the day of the tour.

Tales & Rails

A fully escorted tour of Wellington’s cable car and two museums.

Start with a guided tour of the Museum of Wellington City & Sea, then ride the cable car escorted by your own 'gripman'. Stop for refreshments, marvel at the best views of the city, and tour the Cable Car Museum.

Bookings must be made by 5pm the day before the tour.

Get the inside story from an experienced Museum Host. Tours are tailored to suit the needs of your group – ideal for bus or seniors tour groups. Morning and afternoon teas can be arranged on request.

Bookings essential for groups of 10 or more people or entry may be refused.

Positive Pirates - learn to tie secret knots & hear stories of adventure on the high seas. Paddy the Wanderer - re-live the adventures of the famous stray dog that was handed the keys to the city. Taniwha Tales - hear fabulous stories of the magical creatures that may once have inhabited our harbour. View some feedback from a recent birthday party.

Prices range from $250 to $350 for up to 15 kids. Additional kids will incur a $20pp cost with a maximum number of 20 able to be accommodated.

Ideal for ages 3 years and up and even includes free organic fair trade coffee to keep the adults quiet.

cancellation conditions

Any cancellations made within 24 hours prior to activity will incur a 50% fee. If activity is cancelled due to weather conditions considerations will be made.
