Established in 1994 to mobilise and utilise the enthusiasm for maritime matters the Maritime Friends of the Museum of Wellington City & Sea has been effective in promoting public awareness and enjoyment of the Museum.

The Friends group through its own specific maritime focus and interest provides strong support for the now broader based and refurbished Museum of Wellington City & Sea.

The Friends are managed by a president and committee who are elected at the annual general meeting.
